The website is a subscription based service and is specifically designed to offer towing professionals information on pressing towing and recovering topics such as how to get tow bills paid fast, how to properly invoice customers, information on changing laws/regulations, labor dos and donts and more.

“There are many laws and regulations that apply to tow companies and many are confusing and hard to navigate for business owners,” said Nicholas Porto, attorney and owner of The Porto Law and TowLawyer.com.  “My TowLawyer.com business partner and I concepted and brought TowLawyer.com to fruition based on a need in the towing market. The goal of TowLawyer.com is to ultimately help towing companies avoid the court room by following our legal tips and advice.”

TowLawyer.com provides the following services to its subscribers:

  • Subscription only blog content from a TowLawyer.com attorney that features the latest news on changing laws/regulations and easy to follow legal tips.
  • Downloadable legal forms that tow companies can start using immediately.
  • An e-book containing laws specific to their state authored by McGovern or Porto.
  • Access to summaries of legal cases authored by McGovern or Porto.
  • Access to a national database of attorneys who have experience representing towing companies.

Porto became interested in the towing industry after he was assigned a towing company case about overcharging violations shortly after joining a local litigation firm. After successfully resolving the case, Porto became well versed with laws and regulations specific to the tow industry.

In 2011, he founded The Porto Law Firm focusing on legal issues specific to the towing industry and representing nearly every towing company in and around Kansas City, as well as throughout the United States. In 2013, Nick obtained a landmark recovery for the family of a young tow operator tragically killed while in the line of service, making him an advocate for enhanced Move Over laws on roadways.
